Online Options Introduced for Iowa Pre-K-12 Students During Pandemic

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Education Tuesday introduced online options for families and students while classes are closed during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The resources available include interactive games, virtual field trips and e-books, and are designed for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students.

The department says the options are not meant to replace classroom teaching, but to help students who are now learning from home. Subjects included in the program are literacy, computer science, fine arts and career and technical education.

According to the education department, the resources will be reviewed and updated weekly. It says it's partnering on the program with AEA Learning Online, the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, Iowa PBS and the Iowa Reading Research Center.
