UPDATE: Winter storm could bring 10 inches of snow to parts of Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A mid-April Winter Storm could bring as much as 10 inches of snow to parts of Southern Iowa.

The National Weather Service says that part of the state could see one- to two-inches of snow an hour through the evening, with 10 inches or more possible along and south of Highway 34.

The Weather Service says parts of Central Iowa south of Interstate 80 could see varying amounts from two- to as much as six-inches of snow.

Areas north of I-80 may see an inch of snow or less.

The southern two tiers of Iowa counties are under a Winter Storm Warning, while the two tiers just north of that--including the Des Moines metro area, are under a Winter Weather Advisory--it's all in effect until 7:00 a.m. Friday.
