Illinois Siblings Accused Of Kidnapping Mother From Iowa Nursing Home

Prosecutors in Galesburg are pushing ahead with charges against a brother and sister who police say kidnapped their mother from her nursing home in Iowa last week.

54-year-old Michael Fisher and 63-year-old Frances Sisler are both facing kidnapping charges. The Galesburg Police Department says it was contacted by the police department in Albia about an elderly woman that had been kidnapped from a nursing home by her two children.

A nationwide warrant was issued for Michael Fisher and Frances Sisler. Galesburg Police say Fisher was known to be armed and had previous incidents with officers. Police also advised that he would be involved in a shootout with law enforcement is he was confronted.

Police were told they had reason to believe the two were in the Galesburg area. Through the investigation and a city wide canvas, Galesburg officers found their vehicle in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue. Officers then set up a perimeter around a home.

Police say Fisher came out of the house to warm up his vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators say Sisler was found inside the home and also taken into custody without incident.

Their elderly mother was also located inside the home. She was found to be in respiratory distress and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

In a statement the Galesburg Police Department said "would like to thank the officers and dispatchers for their great work on this case. Through their efforts, we were able to locate the victim and provide her with the medical treatment she needed."
