Hy-Vee Requires Employees to Wear Masks in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

Hy-Vee will require all of its employees to masks amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, the grocery store chain made the announcement that all store and distribution center employees throughout its eight-state region are now required to wear masks. Hy-Vee says they've provided masks to all of their employees over the past several weeks.

Hy-Vee says this is just one of many measures they've taken to ensure the health and well-being of its employees and customers over the past several weeks. Other efforts include temporary Plexiglas barriers installed at all check stands and pharmacy, customer service and convenience store counters. The chain has also placed social distancing indicators on the floor wherever lines typically form in the store; one-way directional signage for all aisles. Carts and check stand belts also get sanitized between each customer use and special shopping times have been reserved for those considered to be most at risk for illness.

Hy-Vee is also providing another front line employee appreciation bonus to all of its part-time and full-time store employees. Employees will receive a 10% bonus on all their hours worked from April 13th through May 3rd. This is the second employee appreciation bonus the company is providing to its front line employees.
