528 New COVID-19 Cases, 9 Deaths Reported in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reporting 528 new COVID-19/coronavirus cases as of Sunday, down from two record highs of 739 Friday and 757 Saturday. Nine deaths are also being reported as of Sunday.

Outbreaks are now reported at 27 long term care centers, including six in Polk County, four in Linn County and two each in Blackhawk, Dallas, Muscatine and Tama counties.

The total number of COVID-19 cases for the state is 9,169 and there are 2,932 new negative tests, bringing that total statewide to 44,017.

IDPH reports 77 percent of the new positive cases Sunday are in the 22 counties where restrictions remain in place. The state says 1 in 59 Iowans have been tested. 

There are 378 people currently hospitalized, and 3,325 Iowans have recovered.

  • Dallas County, 1 older adult (61-80 years)   
  • Dubuque, 1 older adult (61-80 years)

  • Poweshiek County, 2 elderly adults (81+)
