Governor Reynolds Apologizes For Test Iowa Delays

Governor Kim Reynolds has apologized for the delay in TestIowa COVID-19 coronavirus test results.

On Monday Reynolds blamed a backlog at the State Hygienic Lab where the results are processed. "I know waiting for test results is difficult and I'm sorry for any concern that this may have caused you," Reynolds says. "I want to again reassure Iowans that this is a short term issue."

The governor says anyone who has not received results from their COVID-19 test should continue to stay home.

She also said Monday that she expected the state lab to get caught up on the backlog by the end of the day.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health more than 57-thousand Iowans have been tested for the virus. More than 47-thousand of them came back negative. The department says one in 55 Iowans have been tested.
