Person Shot Sunday Identified; Three Arrested, Two for Attempted Murder

DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines police have arrested three people for a shooting that's left 18-year- Braden Schaffer hospitalized after undergoing surgery last night.

Police say an officer heard gunfire near 31st and Clark Streets Sunday afternoon and saw a car speeding away from the scene.

The vehicle fled and a short chase began,which ended in the 1600 block of Forest Avenue. Schaffer was found inside the car with a gunshot wound to the head.

Twenty-one year old Raekwon Patton and 18-year-old Austin Mallory face numerous charges, including Attempted Murder, and 24-year-old Tayronce Denton is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. He also has an existing Parole Violation warrant.

Officers say Schaffer, Patton, Mallory and Denton ware all in a car that exchanged gunfire with a pedestrian in the 3000 block of Clark Street..

Des Moines Police are still interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence in the case.
