West Des Moines Police Warn About Car Thefts, Burglaries

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The West Des Moines Police Department is warning the public about an outbreak of car thefts and burglaries of cars.

The department says most of the thefts take place late at night in apartment complexes and some neighborhoods.

It says the vehicles are typically left unlocked with valuable items and keys being left inside.

West Des Moines Police are asking residents to supply information about people who may be breaking into vehicles, including any surveillance video that may capture those activities.

A statement from the department included a link to surveillance video showing two people appearing to be burglarizing a car in a parking lot.

The statement reminded the public to be conscientious about locking their vehicles and taking their valuables out of their vehicles.
