Second Straight Day of Tornadoes Hits Central Iowa; Some Damage

DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa - The threat of severe weather for Wednesday will be much less after tornadoes formed in central Iowa for the second day in a row Tuesday.

After an EF-1 touched down in Johnston Monday evening, two brief tornadoes formed in Dallas County near and west of Waukee and southeast of Dallas Center early Tuesday afternoon.

Shottenkirk Chevrolet Sales General Manager Paul Deyarman described damage at the Waukee auto dealership to WHO-TV.

“Believe it or not, the force of the storm actually was able to pick up a brand new Chevy Suburban and move it about two or three feet," Deyarman said. "We had about six vehicles get moved several feet."

There was building damage from the tornado along West Hickman Road in Waukee

Another tornado formed in southern Wright County later Tuesday afternoon with no reports of any damage.
