Demonstrations Mark 13th Day of Racial Justice Activities in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa - A group of more than 100 people marched through downtown Des Moines Wednesday night in the "I am a man: peaceful protest & march".

The protesters broke from most other recent demonstrations by marching in silence while walking between the Polk County Treasurer's Office, the police station and the state capitol. Many of the protesters wore professional attire, in suits and dresses, in the march that ended around 9 pm.

Another event was held in Ankeny, where about 300 people gathered for a rally at Wagner Park to hear a number of speakers. That demonstration ended shortly after 8 pm.

The two Wednesday gatherings marked the 13th day of activities in the Des Moines area since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.
