Des Moines City Council adopts racial profiling ban

The Des Moines City Council unanimously voted to adopt a racial profiling ban on Monday night.

This ordinance includes a ban on biased policing, discriminatory pretextual stops, and annual de-escalation and implicit bias training for officers.

A task force to study the decriminalization of marijuana in the city is also being created.
