Man Charged in 14th Homicide of 2020 in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa - A man faces murder charges in the 14th homicide of 2020 in Des Moines.

27-year-old Des Moines resident Andrew James Hall was arrested in the roadside gunshot death of a man in the 2400 block of E. Market Street Saturday night. The location is near an east-side rail-yard.

The victim's name has not been released. Officers say an argument over a debt may have led to the shooting.

Police charged Hall with 1st Degree Murder and 1st Degree Robbery after interviewing witnesses and examining evidence. He's in the Polk County Jail with no bond.

Des Moines reached 13 homicides in October of 2019, and never saw a 13th homicide in 2018.
