Police Identify Victim in Des Moines' 14th Homicide of 2020

DES MOINES, Iowa - Police have identified the victim in the 14th homicide of 2020 in Des Moines.

41-year-old Keokuk resident Michael Thurmam is dead.

27-year-old Andrew Hall is charged with 1st Degree Murder in the roadside gunshot death of Thurman the 2400 block of E. Market Street Saturday night. The location is near an east-side rail-yard.

Officers say an argument over a debt may have led to the shooting.

Police charged Hall with 1st Degree Murder and 1st Degree Robbery after interviewing witnesses and examining evidence. He's in the Polk County Jail with no bond.

Des Moines reached 13 homicides in October of 2019, and never saw a 13th homicide in 2018.
