Sen. Booker Calls Iowa "Swingiest" State While Speaking to Iowa Democrats

DES MOINES, Iowa - New Jersey Democratic U.S. Senator Cory Booker says Iowa is the "swingiest" state in this year's general election.

Booker spoke to Iowa delegates meeting virtually before the opening night of the Democratic National Convention.

"Your state has assumed the position in America as the swingiest of swing states in all the 50 states and seven territories," Booker said.

Booker campaigned heavily in the state before dropping out of the presidential race shortly before the Iowa caucuses. He met with the Iowa delegation, which is holding a series of gatherings before each night's main speeches at this week's convention.

Booker also spoke about the powerful derecho that brought major damage across Iowa last week and mentioned the hardships experienced from hurricane Sandy in 2012 while he was mayor of Newark, New Jersey.

The Democratic National Convention is set to conclude Thursday night with former Vice President Joe Biden's acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination.

The Republican Party will hold its national convention next week, where President Donald Trump will accept the party's nomination for reelection.
