Numerous COVID-19 Cases Reported After Event At Knoxville Raceway

MARION COUNTY, Iowa - Knoxville Speedway says its working with agencies in Marion County after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The staffer tested positive after last weekend’s “One and Only” race.

Two teams taking part in the race have also announced they have members who are positive for the virus.

Daryn Pittman posted on Facebook that he and a couple team members are currently recovering from the coronavirus.

Kraig Kinser Racing says members of their team also tested positive.

Both teams say they'll be sitting out races this weekend.

Knoxville Raceway says the staff member who tested positive has self-isolated away from track and will remain quarantined as directed by medical professionals. The raceway says it's working closely with the Marion County Public Health Department and Marion County Emergency Management while those agencies monitor the situation.

The One and Only event was the stand-in for the Knoxville Nationals, which was postponed until 2021 over COVID-19 restrictions.
