AMES, Iowa - Police at Iowa State University have made an arrest in connection to criminal conduct discovered Saturday, August 22nd.

Chief Michael Newton says officers were called to Roberts Hall after a staff member found a storage room burglarized and vandalized with a racial slur targeting the Black community. Investigators also found damage to furniture and property in other places inside the residence hall.

Police arrested 18 year-old Nathan Page in connection with the conduct. Page faces charges of criminal trespass with vandalism, as well as 3rd and 4th degree criminal mischief. The Dean of Students Office says it will consider student code of conduct charges. Iowa State Police are collaborating with the Story County Attorney on the possibility of additional or enhanced charges.

The University says it will continue to provide resources and support for staff and students and will allow students living in Roberts Hall to have the option of moving to a different residence hall.
