Ten additional Iowa counties will receive FEMA individual assistance

Governor Kim Reynolds says 10 more Iowa counties will be receiving individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after last month's Derecho storm.

Individuals and business owners in Polk, Story, Scott, Marshall, Benton, Boone, Cedar, Jasper, Poweshiek, and Tama can now receive individual assistance from FEMA for disaster-related costs.

This includes assistance with housing, personal property replacement, and medical expenses. Linn County was approved for individual assistance on August 20th.

Eight more Iowa counties have also requested to be included in the FEMA public assistance program, which provides help for public entities and non-profit organizations. The counties are Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hardin, Iowa, Jackson, Keokuk, and Washington.

16 other Iowa counties have already been approved for public assistance funding.
