Severe Weather Possible in Much of Iowa Saturday Night into Sunday Morning

DES MOINES, Iowa - There's a chance for severe weather in much of Iowa Saturday evening through early Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines says a fast moving area of storms up to 45 miles-per-hour or higher will allow for less time to seek shelter, which could endager holiday campers.

There is some indication that the storms may remain severe as they move into northeast or east-central Iowa.

Areas affected by last month's Derecho could get strong winds and large hail during the storms.

The time frame for the possible severe weather is from 9 pm Saturday through 7 am Sunday.

The area where the severe weather could occur stretches from metro Des Moines eastward through Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities.
