The City of Cedar Rapids is warning about a scam-artist, asking to inspect your home after last month's storms.
The City says the person claims to be with the Assessor's Office, requesting to perform an inspection of your home and/or attempting to determine if a property is vacant due to the Derecho storm.
All Assessors and staffers will have a City-issued I-D badge.
The City says if someone shows up without the proper I-D, residents should call police.
