Des Moines Mayor Extends City Building Closures to December

City of Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines city buildings are staying closed through at least December 1st.

Mayor Frank Cownie extended a March 17th emergency proclamation today citing concerns over increased community spread of COVID-19.

Polk County has the highest number of positive coronavirus cases in Iowa with just over 14-thousand cases, and 246-deaths.

Cownie says city offices will stay closed to the public until there's a 'consistent, sustained decrease' in new positive cases.
