3,000 Flags in Place at Gray's Lake in Honor of 9/11 Victims

DES MOINES, Iowa - Three-thousand American flags are in place this morning along Gray's Lake in Des Moines.

The annual Tribute Trail honors the 3,000 people who died in the 9/11 attacks.

Volunteers from iHeartMedia, the parent company of WHO Radio, along with Nationwide and the Air Force planted the flags.

The tribute has become a annual tradition since the terrorist attacks, but was almost canceled last year over a shortage of flags and volunteers.
