Investigation Expanded Into Jasper County Body in Ditch Homicide

GRINNELL, Iowa - An investigation into a fire scene where a dead body was discovered this week in Jasper County has been expanded.

The Grinnell Police Department and the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office have been added to the group of agencies looking into the death.

The burned body was found by first responders who were called to a fire in a roadside ditch near Kellogg in rural Jasper County Wednesday.

The death has been classified as a homicide.

The two additional agencies join the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.

An autopsy is being performed, and the state says more information will be released Friday.
