New Iowa Poll Shows Dead Heat Between Trump, Biden in State

DES MOINES, Iowa - The latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden locked in a tie, 47%-47%, among likely voters just six weeks to Election Day.

The survey show a sharp gender divide with men of nearly every demographic supporting Trump, a Republican, with women doing the same for Biden, a Democrat.

The new poll shows little change since June, when Trump led Biden by a single percentage point.

It was released Tuesday morning by the Register, and shows 4% would vote for someone other than Trump or Biden, and 3% are unsure.

The Register also reports data from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office show voter turnout for men and women is roughly the same., although women typically cast more ballots.

The poll of likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

The Iowa Poll was the only survey in 2016 to correctly predict Trump’s win in the state, while others predicted a Hillary Clinton victory.
