FEMA to open disaster center in Ames

Ames, IA - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has a new derecho Disaster Recovery Center now open in Ames. The FEMA bus is in the parking lot for the ball fields at North River Valley Park, 725 E. 13th Street.

Hours will be Monday-thru-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A FEMA Administrator will be available At the site to help residents with forms, information, and to answer questions.

The center will close October 10th. FEMA says Story County residents impacted by last month's derecho will have access to a drive-thru service at the center. People are asked to remain in their vehicles when visiting.

Applicants do not have to visit the center to submit documents. Those can be mailed, faxed, or submitted via www.disasterassistance.gov.
