Teenager Gets Life Sentence in West Des Moines Murder

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - A teenager convicted of killing an 18-year-old West Des Moines woman will go to prison with a life sentence.

Eliazar Gama admitted he robbed, beat and shot the woman after getting into her car to buy marijuana last year.

Gama was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting, and a judge has ordered that he may be eligible for parole after 30 years.

The incident occurred at about 12:40 a.m. on April 8th, 2019. Gama was originally charged with robbery. The charge was upgraded after Gama admitted to the murder. The woman, Sakira Bonner, died at a hospital.
