Iowa Auditors Assure Public of Accurate, Timely Election

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa auditors say Tuesday's election will be timely, accurate and safe, even with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and record early voting.

The state's Association of Auditors says counties began opening absentee ballot envelopes Saturday.

The 46 hour window to tabulate them began at midnight this morning and ends at 10 pm on election day tomorrow.

The association says auditors have been planning for months to accurately count votes and safely serve all voters on Election Day.

Iowa Association of County Auditors President Roxanna Moritz released a letter assuring the public of measures taken to secure the election. The association represents auditors in six district including all of Iowa 99 counties.
