Des Moines Area Colleges See Mental Health Impact of Quarantine on Students

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Des Moines area colleges and universities are seeing the mental health effects quarantine and isolation are having on students, and they're adding additional counseling services as the COVID pandemic continues.

Ellie Olson, Associate Dean for Counseling Health and Leadership at Simpson College in Indianola tells WHO 13 that while Simpson College's enrollment is down this year, they've seen a rise in students requesting counseling.

Drake University in Des Moines has started offering rapid access to counselors, so that students can get an appointment within 24 hours.
