Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to give evening address on COVID-19

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds talk about the COVID-19 pandemic during a rare evening address to the state on Monday.

The governor's office says Reynolds will talk about the need for Iowans to practice safe mitigation efforts, plus announce new steps to fight the virus to protect lives, hospital resources, and health care workers.

The address comes as Iowa continues to see new daily high numbers of people in the hospital with the virus, and 94 of Iowa's 99 counties with 14-day positivity rates above 15 percent.

The state's coronavirus website says Jones County has a positivity rate near 51 percent, while Page and Calhoun counties are over 40 percent.

Governor Reynolds speech will be will be livestreamed on her Facebook page.

The speech is scheduled to start just after 6:00 p.m.
