State Health Department Isn't Reporting All COVID Deaths in One Iowa County

IDPH COVID-19 Outcome Analysis (Deaths) Dashboard

APPANOOSE CO., Iowa -- Appanoose County Public Health says the state health department isn't reporting 13 COVID-19 related deaths on the coronavirus dashboard.

The county in southern Iowa is reporting 16 deaths from COVID-19, but the Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting four deaths.

The Iowa Department of Public Health says the state's COVID-19 dashboard reports deaths by county when a healthcare worker indicates the death was caused by the coronavirus and when there is a positive test result on file in the Iowa Disease Surveillance System.

In a Facebook post, Appanoose County Public Health says the additional deaths include six females and three males 81 years old or more, and two males and two females 61-80 years old.

Appanoose County Public Health says the Iowa Department of Public Health is working to resolve the issue.
