Board of Canvass certifies 6-vote win for Mariannette Miller-Meeks

The state Board of Canvass met on Monday and officially certified the results of the 2020 election in Iowa.

The certification confirmed a six-vote win for Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks over Democrat Rita Hart in the race for Iowa's Second Congressional District seat. It's the closest result in a federal race this year.

The Hart campaign is expected to file a legal challenge against the results. According to Iowa law, they must do so within two days of certification.

The board also certified President Trump's win in Iowa, officially awarding him the state's six electoral college votes.
