Iowa Blood Centers Continue to Ask for Plasma from COVID-19 Survivors

DES MOINES, Iowa - There's still a need for more plasma donations from COVID survivors in Iowa.

Danielle West, with LifeServe Blood Centers tells WHO 13 the closer a person donates to the time they test positive, the better. She says antibodies can wear off in the weeks or months after a positive COVID-19 test.

West says as of a few weeks ago, Iowa's supply of convalescent blood plasma was set to run out today, however Iowans stepped up in a big way over the last few weeks to keep the supplies from running out.
