COVID-positive Iowan jailed, accused of intentionally coughing on cop

(Dallas County, IA) -- A Waukee man's behind bars accused of trying to infect a police officer with COVID-19. Police say 61-year old Mark Bishop intentionally coughed in a cop's face several times, earlier this month. Bishop was arrested yesterday and taken to the Dallas County Jail. He's facing an assault charge with attempt to inflict serious injury. He's also charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, in connection with a dispute involving a neighbor.

WHO 13 reports that Bishop was arrested Tuesday morning in the 700 block of Waterview Circle. Police were at his address to serve a search warrant in connection to an incident that happened earlier in December.

WHO 13 reports according to a criminal complaint in the case Bishop had informed the Dallas County Jail and the arresting officer last week that he had COVID-19. Bishop accused of intentionally coughing in the officer’s face several times.
