(Polk County, IA) -- A Kellogg, Iowa man's been charged after slamming into a parked police car, injuring an officer. Police say 61-year-old Jon Swartz hit a squad car just after Midnight November 8th, that was stopped on I-35, near Westown Parkway.
Officer Jon Kauffman was in the squad car, and had been waiting for a tow truck
Jon Swartz is being charged with:
- Serious Injury by vehicle-Reckless driving
- Serious Injury by vehicle-OWI
- Exceeding posted speed limit
- Reckless Driving
- Improper use of electronic communication device
- Approach to certain stationary vehicles causing personal injury
- Operating While Intoxicated, 1stoffense
West Des Moines Police took Swartz into custody today (Tuesday) and took him to the Polk County Jail.
