Man Accused of Firing Shots at Car, Running Into Motorcycle on I-29 in Iowa

ONAWA, Iowa - A Sioux City man faces attempted murder charges after being accused of firing shots and intentionally striking a motorcycle on Interstate 29 in western Iowa.

Deputies say Jayme Powell fired shots at a vehicle and struck a motorcycle with his pickup truck Sunday.

Powell's truck and the motorcycle ended up in a ditch, leaving the cyclist (Richard Polak of Sioux City) in critical condition.

Powell fled the scene but was later taken into custody in Sioux City.

Polak was life flighted to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City where he remains in critical condition. Powell is currently in custody at the Monona County Jail on two counts of attempted murder.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in the ongoing investigation. There's no word on the condition of the driver of the vehicle, Jaimi Bucholz of Sioux City.
