Ames Police investigating after Iowa State student found dead Friday

An investigation is underway after Ames police found an Iowa State University student dead in the parking lot of a sorority house.

Police responded to the Delta Delta Delta sorority just before 10 A.M. Friday morning on a call of a person unconscious in the parking lot.

When they arrived, they found a 21-year old female in the parking lot, later pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

On January 22, 2021, at 9:49 a.m., the Ames Police Department responded to a medical call at

Delta Delta Delta Sorority, 302 Ash Avenue. The caller reported a college aged female was

found unconscious in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old female on

the ground in the parking lot. The female was pronounced dead at the scene by medical

personnel. The name of the female is being withheld pending notification of family. The female

is an Iowa State University student.

Officers are canvassing the area and conducting follow-up interviews. At this time, there does

not appear to be any threats to the community. Investigation into this incident continues by the

Ames Police Department.
