Initial J & J Vaccines Being Shipped to Iowa

IOWA - Nearly 4 million doses of the newest COVID-19 vaccine are now being shipped with injections at the state level starting tomorrow.

Governor Kim Reynolds has confirmed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available to Iowans this week.

The state is receiving 28,500 initial doses.

The Food and Drug Administration gave emergency authorization for the J&J vaccine Saturday.

J&J has promised to deliver about 16 million more doses nationally by the end of March and 100 million total by the end of June.

Iowa has a new website to answer questions about vaccines, which includes a vaccine locator to connect people with vaccine providers.

The state is also forming a team of vaccine navigators through the 211-call center to schedule appointments for people 65 and older who are unable to do so online. The service will be available next Monday.
