Iowa Gov Reynolds Holding News Conference as J & J Vaccines Flow into State

DES MOINES, Iowa - Governor Kim Reynolds is holding a news conference Wednesday that'll likely include more discussion about COVID-19 vaccines.

More than 25,000 new single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines are coming to a number of the state's counties.

The single dose shots may be helpful in Iowa, which continues to rank among the top 15 states for delivering first doses to people.

But the state has also dropped into a tie with Utah for dead last in delivery second a second dose.

Hy-Vee has stepped in to help give out second doses of the Moderna vaccine in some areas with supply shortages.

The Centers for Disease Control says the second dose of Moderna shots need to be delivered with 42 days of the first dose.

Iowa is sending the single dose J & J vaccines to 17 specific counties that have a large number of frontline workers who aren't able to social distance on the job.
