Regents: Iowa universities can lift international travel restrictions

(Undated) -- Pandemic-related travel restrictions for Iowa's universities are easing. The Iowa Board of Regents issued an international travel ban one year ago. The board is now lifting that restriction, effective immediately. Decisions regarding university-sponsored travel will now be up to university presidents. The overall State of Emergency for the Regents universities issued last year remains in effect.

The Board of Regents issued the restriction on March 5, 2020 for all faculty, staff, and students.

Board President Michael Richards says the lifting of the policy, is due to improving COVID-19 conditions.

The overall State of Emergency for the Regents Universities issued on March 18, 2020 remains in effect, including any other policies and administrative rules that have been waived due to the pandemic.
