Bill to Protect Free Speech on Campus Heads to Iowa Senate

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A bill aimed a protecting free speech in schools and public universities is headed to the Iowa Senate.

The bill requires the board of regents to put procedures in place that guarantee students' free expression in K through 12 schools, community colleges, and public universities, as well as yearly first amendment training for students and staff.

The bill is seeing broad bipartisan support, and passed the Iowa House 97-1.
