Cedar Rapids PD seek man in deadly, wrong-way I-380 crash

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids Police are looking for a man involved in a deadly, wrong-way I-380 crash this month. Police say 34-year-old Tyler Lee of Rockton, Illinois was driving a pick-up March 7th, when he hit an SUV. One person in the SUV died, two others, a driver and another passenger, had serious injuries. Police have issued arrest warrants for Lee for Homicide by Vehicle-OWI, Homicide by Vehicle Reckless Driving, and two counts of Serious Injury by Motor vehicle.

The crash happened on northbound U.S. Interstate 380 north of the 7th Street NE exit, at approximately 2 a.m. Investigators say Lee was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-380 and hit a 2007 Chevy Suburban K1500 with four occupants.

The warrants have been entered into the National Crime Information Center database for nationwide pickup of the suspect by law enforcement officers.

Anyone who knows of Tyler Lee's whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement.

The front seat passenger in the Suburban who died at the scene has been identified as 23-year-old David Phuong Nguyen of Cedar Rapids.

The driver of the Suburban, 20-year-old Rylee Wallingford of Cedar Rapids, was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with serious injuries.

The rear passengers in the Suburban have been identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Brecht, and 22-year-old Skyler McDowell, both of Cedar Rapids.
