Iowa joins lawsuit against Biden administration over stimulus tax rules

Iowa and 12 other states are suing the Biden administration and U.S. Treasury Department over a portion of the recently passed stimulus bill.

The suit, filed in a U.S. District Court in Alabama, asks the court to strike down a provision in the "American Rescue Plan" that they claim seizes taxing authority from states.

"We don't believe that it's constitutional, and we believe it's an over exercise of federal power," Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds told WHO/WMT/WOC Radio's Simon Conway on Wednesday.

Iowa joins Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Florida, Kansas, Montana, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virginia and Utah in this lawsuit.
