Iowa Has Historic Weather, Sunshine and 80s Turns to Spring Showers Tonight

The National Weather Service

DES MOINES, Iowa -- It seems to be a great day for socially distant, outdoor Easter egg hunts, before a chance of spring showers tonight.

The National Weather Service says plenty of sunshine today with highs in the low-80s.

It could rain a bit tonight.

They say showers and a few storms are possible through the middle of the week, but the potential for severe weather is low.

They say if you don't like the weather in Iowa, wait a day, well in this case, a few hours.

The National Weather Service says Iowa had historic weather on this day, April 4th, in 1995.

25 years ago daytime highs dipped from the 50s and 60s to lows in the single digits and teens by the morning of the 4th.

They say Des Moines' daytime temperature was 66 degrees and fell to 19.

That's a fall of 47-degrees from day to night.

They say notably the highest and the lowest temperatures ever recorded in April was also in 1995 and separated by just 39 hours.
