Arrest, charges announced in Waterloo officer-involved shooting

Police are identifying the suspect in Wednesday's officer-involved shooting in Waterloo.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says 44-year Marcelino Alvarez-Victoriano is facing two counts of Assault on a Peace Officer after he pointed a gun at a Black Hawk County sheriff's deputy and chased him. He was then shot by a Waterloo police officer.

Alvarez-Victoriano is still hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

No officers were hurt in the shooting.
