Eastern Iowa Congresswoman Gets Vaccine, Urges Others Do The Same

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Eastern Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson is encouraging others to get COVID-19 shots after receiving her first dose.

Hinson says she got her first shot Saturday and wants other people to talk to their doctors and receive the vaccine as soon as possible.

The first-term Republican also praised the efforts of Iowa health care workers in to combat the pandemic.

All Iowans sixteen and older are allowed to get vaccinated.

It’s not known how many members of U.S. House of Representatives (435) or Senate (100) have been vaccinated.

Hinson released a statement below:

“I received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday,” said Hinson. I am incredibly grateful to the American scientists and innovators who developed the vaccines in record time and to all of our health care workers who have been on the frontlines of this pandemic. The FDA-approved vaccines are safe and effective and I encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible. The sooner we get more shots in arms, the sooner we will return to normalcy."
