3rd Finalist Announced for University of Iowa President

IOWA CITY, Iowa - A third finalist to be the next University of Iowa president is visiting the school Monday and Tuesday.

Georgia State University Provost Wendy Hensel will take part in a public forum Monday afternoon at 3:30.

Hensel joins candidates from the University of Illinois and Penn State in the running for UI president.

A fourth candidate will also be announced.

University of Illinois Academic Affairs Vice President Barbara Wilson and Penn State Law and International Affairs Dean Hari Osofsky are the other two candidates who have visited the school.

The name of each candidate is being announced the day prior to their visit.

After completion of the campus visits, the Board of Regents plans to meet at the end of April at the University of Iowa to hear from the search committee and interview the finalists.

The board plans to announce a new UI president on April 30th.

Current President Bruce Harreld has announced May 16th will be his last day at the University.

UI Graduate College Dean John Keller has been asked to serve as interim president until the next permanent president takes over.
