New Park at Iowa State Fair Will Host Tractor Pulls and Rodeos

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa State Fair is returning this summer with a new space that'll host tractor pulls, monster trucks meets, rodeos and barbecue competitions.

The Elwell Family Park will have permanent seating for more than two-thousand when it opens for a tractor pull during the fair.

It'll eventually seat six-thousand people and have permanent restrooms and expanded concessions.

The State Fair has announced a pledge of two-million dollars from real estate developer Denny Elwell and his wife Candy is making the park possible.

Additional family friendly events will come in the future, including monster trucks, rodeos and barbeque competitions among others.

Iowa State Fair Tractor Pulls sponsored by Titan Tire, maker of Goodyear Farm Tires, will take place on August 17th and 18th

"The generosity of Denny and Candy Elwell is an inspiration for the Iowa State Fair," said Peter Cownie, Executive Director for the Blue Ribbon Foundation. "The Elwell Family Park is the capstone to the largest capital improvement project the Iowa State Fair has ever undertaken. Phase 1 of the Elwell Family Park will be a wonderful addition to the Iowa State Fair in 2021.

The Blue Ribbon Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises money for improvements on the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
