IOWA - The Governor’s office is confirming that the person in charge of the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown has been fired.

A spokesperson for Governor Kim Reynolds office confirmed that Timon Oujiri was removed from his post last week.

He's been replaced by Division Administrator Penny Cutler-Bermudez, who is managing the Veteran's home on an interim basis.

Oujiri was appointed by Reynolds to head the home in 2017, which is one of the largest state-owned nursing homes in the country.

There's no word from the governor's office on why he was fired.

Oujiri appeared with Governor Reynolds at one of her news conferences in December, where she complimented his work protecting staff and residents at the home from the pandemic.
