Worker Rescued at Polk County Manufacturing Plant

(Polk County, Iowa) -- A Polk County manufacturing plant worker is safe after passing out inside a pit.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says according to the initial call, the worker was up on a ladder and was overcome by fumes, causing the him to fall off the ladder into a 10 foot deep pit. When rescue crews arrived, they found that the worker was already in the pit when he passed out from argon gas fumes and had not fallen off a ladder.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the worker was conscious when first responders arrived and had suffered a cut on his head. He was taken to an area hospital for examination.
