Cristhian Rivera Awaiting Trial in Scott County Jail

(Davenport, Iowa) -- The trial of the man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts could begin this week.

Jury selection began in the trial of Cristhian Rivera this morning in Davenport, and the selection process is expected to take up to two days. Once the jury is seated, opening statements will begin.

Rivera is awaiting trial in the Scott County Jail.

He faces first-degree murder charges in Tibbetts' 2018 death, as police say he eventually led them to the location of Tibbetts' body near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.
