DES MOINES -- The first-ever Olympic qualifying event for skateboarding is being held at the nation's largest skatepark in Des Moines today.

The Dew Tour starts at Lauridsen Skate Park with the first qualifier beginning around 9:00 a.m.

Tickets are sold out for the entire weekend.

"On a daily basis we will assess and if there's a possibility to open up tickets, we will do that. So just keep an eye out on Dewtour.com and the app, if you have it. We'll send out a push notification and then also check our social channels," said Courtney Gresick, VP and General Manager of the Dew Tour, interviewed by news partner WHO-13.

Skateboarding makes it's Olympic debut this summer in Tokyo.

The Dew Tour is the first event to be held at the newly opened, 88,000 square feet park.

In a news release, the Dew Tour says more than 300 of the world's top athletes will compete for a chance to win the Dew Tour title and earn points toward their country's Olympic skateboarding team.

The event is historic for the U.S., Iowa, and Des Moines, and is expected to bring in between four and five Million dollars to the local economy.

The Dew Tour is May 20-23.
